Egypt is a commercial powerhouse in the Mediterranean region. Its control over the world's most important maritime corridor, the Suez Canal, coupled with a privileged geographical location has made it a key trading and investment hub. In addition, in recent years, Egyptian authorities have revised its customs legislation to streamline the process of importing and exporting goods, effectively boosting opportunities for investment in the country, namely for SMEs.
In this context, in order to help exporting businesses preserve their innovations, prevent counterfeiting, attract investment, maintain market exclusivity, and build trust with partners, the Africa IP SME Heldpesk seeks to raise awareness on the role of intellectual property (IP) in trade with the North African country.
The webinar, titled “Investing in Egypt: the role of intellectual property” will aim to help SMEs in understanding the importance of protecting their IPRs when exporting and/or developing their operations in Egypt, focusing on innovative sectors as well as the relevant IP challenges.
